Posted by Paul Inglis in Fly Fishing, Isle of Man on Monday, 7th June, 2010
With Round 8 of the Isle of Man Fly Fishers Evening League at Injebreck looming I decided it was time to have a look a round and get a feel for the place. With my blanking saga still on going
I have spent many hours assessing my fishing overall and looking at ways to improve. Read the rest of this entry »
A mind boggling Round 6 & 7
Posted by Paul Inglis in Fly Fishing, Isle of Man on Monday, 31st May, 2010
In my last post entitled ‘A change of luck
’ I mentioned that I was off to fish Round 6 of the Isle of Man Fly Fishers Competition at Sulby Reservoir. I had caught well in the last couple of sessions up there including landing a near double figure Rainbow Trout. So you could imagine that I was pretty confident in at least catching. Okay Dokey! It’s been a good week and a half since I’ve written about my fishing forays and competition fishing. I need to rewind back to Sunday 5th May to begin where I left off. It was Round 5 of the Isle of Man Fly Fishers at Kerrowdhoo and Clypse again but the time had been changed to the morning with a 9:30 start and finish at 12:30. Read the rest of this entry »

Unfortunately I didn’t have a chance to fish between Round 3 (Sunday 18th) and Round 4 (Sunday 25th) of the Isle of Man Fly Fishers (IOMFF) Championship League. I did very well in Round 3 with four fish weighing 9lb 1oz for third place. However, in Round 4 I struggled and blanked, again! Read the rest of this entry »
What a week of Fly Fishing
Posted by Paul Inglis in Fly Fishing, Isle of Man on Monday, 19th April, 2010
I managed to get out three times in total last week despite that high winds we were experiencing! With the up and coming Round 3 of the Isle of Man Fly Fishers on Sunday just passed (18th April), I was in need of some serious practice. So I decided to fish on Tuesday and Thursday at K&C (Kerrowdhoo and Clypse Reservoirs). Read the rest of this entry »
One Extreme 2 another!
Posted by Paul Inglis in Fly Fishing, Isle of Man on Sunday, 11th April, 2010
I have fished twice at Kerrowdhoo and Clypse since my last post. The first trip was on Thursday 1st April with snow under foot and the second again on a Thursday but on the 8th April with glorious sunshine. The conditions couldn’t have been more extreme as I was fishing in temperatures from just below freezing to those in the early teens! As always I’ll start at the beginning, so without further ado… Read the rest of this entry »
It’s a Devil of a Reel, that Demon!

I’ve hankered for a Hardy reel for years but never purchased one. You see I have always been one of those anglers who like to carry a dozen or so fly lines with me when I go out. Spare spools for most of the Hardy reels cost around a half the price of the reel. That would mean spending in excess of a thousand pounds for a couple of reels and an additional ten spools. I’ve used the Hardy Swift MKII as an example below to help get my point across. Read the rest of this entry »
